Michael D. Cesaro was admitted as a Partner of the Firm on July 1, 2005 and on July 1, 2015 became the firm’s Managing Partner. He joined the Governmental Services Department of the Firm in 1989 and from July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2015 served as Chairman of the department. His areas of expertise are the audits of county and municipal governments, school districts, non-profit organizations and federal and state financial assistance programs. He is licensed to practice as a Certified Public Accountant, Registered Municipal Accountant and as a Public School Accountant in New Jersey. He has also been certified by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Local Government Services as a Certified Municipal Finance Officer. Mr. Cesaro graduated Summa Cum Laude from Glassboro State College (Rowan University) where he earned a B.S. in Business Administration.
Mr. Cesaro has extensive governmental accounting and auditing experience. He has performed accounting, auditing and budgeting services for numerous municipalities, counties, school districts and non-profit organizations most subject to the requirements of the Single Audit Law. He also serves as a frequent discussion leader and speaker for various continuing professional education courses in the areas of municipal accounting, auditing and budgeting.
Mr. Cesaro is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he currently serves as a member of the Governmental Accounting and Auditing Interest Group. He previously served a two year term as Leader of the Interest Group and as a nine year member of the Professional Conduct Committee. Mr. Cesaro is also a member of the New Jersey Registered Municipal Accountant's Association, where he currently serves as Trustee and Immediate Past-President. Previously, Mr. Cesaro had served the Association as President, Vice-President and Treasurer. Mr. Cesaro is also an associate member of the Tax Collectors and Treasurers Association of New Jersey. In the community, Mr. Cesaro spends time as Vice-Chair of the American Red Cross of Southwestern New Jersey serving Camden, Burlington and Gloucester Counties after having served the organization as Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Treasurer; serves as an Executive Board Member of the Gloucester County NAACP which has the mission to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons; serves as a Member of the 200 Club of Burlington County which provides financial assistance to the families of fallen or injured members of the State Police, County and Municipal Police, Fire or Emergency Medical Services serving the citizens of Burlington County; coordinates and facilitates charitable efforts to assist the underprivileged of Camden City via his service with the School District of Camden’s District Parent Center; has served as a member of the Advisory Council for the Food Bank of South Jersey; and also assisted in promoting childhood cancer awareness through his service with the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation. Mr. Cesaro is a resident of East Greenwich Township, Gloucester County.
